Inclined Plain

Currently, Addison is in several live projects. He is one half of Sequentialists, providing the beats in a live drum and bass and jungle duo with keyboard virtuoso Adam Revell. He is also one of the drummers in the Boulder based electronica coalition known as MFA (Motion for Alliance). As of late, Addison has only been playing pick up gigs on guitar, but plans are in the works for several new projects with him back on the strings in the very near future. Though mainly a guitarist with jazz roots, Addison has been performing live on stage and in the studio on guitar, drums, percussion, keys and several other instruments for almost two decades. Since releasing his first full length album with the central Florida punk band Killjoy at the age of sixteen, Addison has played with acts across the spectrum from be-bop, bluegrass and afro cuban ensembles to gypsy jazz, jam bands, and experimental electronica outfits. He has played for one person in a tiny mountain bar and for thousands on a well lit stage. Compiled with time at the controls and in the room at some of the finest studios in the country, Addison's experience began to encompass more than just performance.

Robbie Stiefel
Robbie Stiefel (Vocals/Guitar) spends most of his time playing with Ego Vs Id, a local four piece Rock band. In addition to playing live, Ego Vs Id is currently finishing up their first full length record due out in the Fall of '09. (photo by www.dancerproductions.com)

FRONT LOUNGE: Aakash Mittal Quartet 8:30pm/FREE $3 house wine

In the liner notes of his debut, Aakash Mittal asserts that every moment can be the start of something new or the end of something old, and that "through improvisation we seek to create something new from the old." On Beginnings (slated for release at Dazzle on Thursday, May 29), the 23-year-old alto saxophonist and flutist underscores this notion while drawing as much from his Eastern Indian roots (a lot of songs were inspired by family members) as from the annals of jazz history. With some solid backing from guitarist Matt Fuller, bassist Jean-Luc Davis and drummer Josh Moore, Mittal proves that he has the skills to go far, suggesting that Possible Beginnings is indeed just the start for this talented young player.

Boulder International Fringe Festival feat. GLOAM w. Special Guest

THURSDAY 08.20. Boulder International Fringe Festival feat. GLOAM w. Special Guest 8:30PM /$TBA

Gloam's online bio references Carlos Castaneda's notion — undoubtedly culled from his mystical experiences and practices — that on the borderlands of night and day, magical things can be understood and effected. Indeed, the music of Gloam (due at the Larimer Lounge on Wednesday, July 2) sounds as though it was conceived as the moon was rising or during the false dawn before sunrise; it disorients the senses through layers of sound generated by live instruments, samples, synths and manipulated vocals. There isn't a distinct genre into which this outfit could easily fit — it's too languid, sultry, weird for indie rock, and too visceral for goth or most electronic music. But dwelling in a musical twilight zone all its own tends to work in Gloam's favor.
